    For those coming from the North-East Line, there’s another convenient option to consider. IKEA Tampines also runs a free shuttle bus service from Serangoon MRT.

Their signature Kuching kolo mee set is the must-try, but the spare ribs or chicken feet versions are just as satisfying if you prefer heartier bites. Light yet flavourful with a savoury-sweet balance, each bowl hits the spot, and if you’re a spice lover, their fiery chili will take things up a notch.

    My personal favorites are the cart noodles and the watercress honey with lemon. What I love about the cart noodles is the freedom to mix and match. You can choose from 22 types of toppings and 6 kinds of noodles to create your own perfect bowl. The portions are generous and every bowl feels hearty and satisfying.

    As for the watercress honey, I have tried many in Hong Kong, some good and some completely tasteless. The one here is easily one of the better versions I have had. Adding lemon makes it even more refreshing, so I definitely recommend going for the lemon version.

MRT is always my first choice whenever I head out, but when I need to travel up North, I usually go for the bus instead. Since the bus takes the expressway, it is actually faster than the train most of the time.

    There are two famous bus services, Bus 168 and Bus 969, offering direct and convenient routes. But the big question on everyone’s mind is: how long is bus 168 from Tampines to Woodlands, and how long is bus 969 from Tampines to Woodlands? Below is a detailed breakdown of both routes to help you plan your journey effectively (for your next trip to JB ;)).

    Bus 168: The Express Way (Kind Of)

    I’ve taken this route several times, and honestly, it’s one of the best options. Bus 168 is a direct connection from Tampines to Woodlands, following a pretty straightforward path along the TPE and SLE with minimal twists and turns to get there as quickly as possible.

    Bus 969: The Scenic Tour (But Slower)

    Bus 969 is a different beast altogether. While it also connects Tampines and Woodlands, it takes a much more scenic, and sometimes longer, route through Yishun.

    Best for: When you have plenty of time, want to see different parts of Singapore, or don’t mind a longer ride.

    Estimated Travel Time: Typically between 1 hour 30 minutes to over 2 hours, depending on traffic.

    Where to Board: Tampines Interchange (75009)

    The Reality Check: Bus 969 makes more stops and winds through HDB estates and local roads with traffic lights. My tip? This is the ride to take if you want to people-watch, soak in the neighbourhood vibes, or listen to a full-length podcast without interruptions.
