Did you know that Tampines is now home to Singapore’s first dedicated fantasy and sci fi library? Nestled right inside the newly upgraded Tampines Changkat Community Club, this pop up library is a dream come true for book lovers of all ages, and as a Tampines resident, I couldn’t be more excited.
Why This Library is Special
Launched in February 2025, the Fantasy & Sci Fi Library is a National Library Board (NLB) initiative that will run for one year, until 22 February 2026. It’s not just another library corner, it’s a themed space designed to spark imagination and curiosity. The décor itself feels like stepping into another world, blending futuristic vibes with fantastical touches.
For those of us living in Tampines, it’s a rare treat to have such a niche library right in our own neighbourhood. No need to travel across town, our community club has become a hub for both science fiction fans and fantasy enthusiasts.

What You’ll Find Inside
The library offers a curated collection of more than 5000 books, spanning:
- English and Mother Tongue titles (Chinese, Malay, Tamil)
- Children’s books (nearly 1000 titles for kids aged 10 to 12)
- eReads and eBooks available via the NLB Mobile app
From timeless classics to modern bestsellers, there’s something for everyone. Families in Tampines will love the children’s section, while older readers can explore both epic fantasy sagas and thought provoking sci fi novels.
Murals That Bring Stories to Life
One of the first things you will notice when you step inside are the murals that decorate the walls. These large scale artworks are inspired by iconic fantasy and science fiction themes, transforming the space into something far beyond an ordinary library.

The murals feature scenes of towering castles, futuristic cityscapes, dragons, and intergalactic travel, turning the library into a visual journey as much as a literary one. For kids, the artwork makes the space feel like an adventure playground, while adults will appreciate how the murals capture the spirit of the genres they love.
The murals also provide perfect backdrops for photos, making the library a truly Instagram worthy spot right here in Tampines.
